MAKECODE PROGRAMMING

In this lesson you will learn what is meant by Algorithms, and the ways which they could be presented, also you will learn how they are converted into programs/codes in varies programming languages. The main topic of this lesson is Microsoft MakeCode for MINDSTORMS, Which is online free Programming Engine for MINDSTORMS EV3 robots, so you will be learning everything about MakeCode blocks programming and the user interface of the software. Note that MakeCode MINDSTORMS Blocks are not explained in details in this lesson, you will find separate lessons for each group of block. For further learning you can always participate in /host any of our free courses.

  ACTIVITY/LESSON SUMMARY:

Of course, a robot won’t be a robot without a program/code and that is what would give your robot the forth robot characteristic Intelligence. The word “algorithm” may not seem relevant to you, but the truth is that algorithms are all around us. An algorithm is a detailed step-by-step instruction set or formula for solving a problem or completing a task. Programming is a process that leads from an original formulation of a computing problem to executable computer programs using Algorithms. A program could be written in one or more programming language/s, which are the languages used to communicate with the targeted device whether it is a robot or a computer. Microsoft MakeCode is a new method of programming MINDSTORMS EV3 Robots using Scratch-based Blocks and Java Script all online which was first introduced in 2018. The Blocks Language is the one which we would be covering This Language is based on graphical commands or in other words "Blocks", each Block does a particular command including varies variables which could be adjusted. The sequence of the program runs from top to down, starting with the green labelled loop blocks "On Start" and "Forever", and when each block is completed, the next one is started.
